ALBUM NOTES |
|
Dylan’s Live in 1975 is the 5th CD in his beloved
Bootleg series. As with the others, this recording proves
to be another prime example of what a live album should
be. From its very first song, one will be hit with the
brilliant way that Dylan reinterpreted and rearranged his
songs for 1975 Rolling Thunder Revue, making it one of the
most unique and mind-blowing musical events of all time.
The tracks on this album represent Dylan and his entourage
(Joan Baez, Bobby Neuwirth, Steve Soles, and many more…)
from their prime. Unlike many other live albums, the
clarity and pronunciation of their words are astounding.
From song to song one can actually hear each syllable
pronounces clearly without loosing any of the compelling
energy and soul that made their music so great. In
essence, this album represents Dylan as a true performer,
who gives his heart to his audience with no reserve.
As for the album itself, it is packages with three disks
(a double CD and a bonus DVD) along with an informational
booklet. The track listing for the CD is listed below. In
short, the selections of 22 songs are truly wonderful. The
music spans all areas of his work up to that point and are
delivered in such a way that you are truly hearing him
live on stage. To stray for one second, I would also like
to commit on the booklet that comes packaged. As with some
of his other box sets, this album comes with a 52-page
booklet that provides the reader with countless details
surrounding The Rolling Thunder Review. From the very
first page, intriguing information is given on the early
events that shaped one of the greatest songwriters of all
time. It is definitely worth the read.
In conclusion, this album proves to be a fine example what
Dylan’s music is. It contains well-loved classics such
as Iris, Tangled Up In Blues, and Blowing in the Wind,
while including lesser-known classics. It truly is a
wonderful recreation of the excitement and atmosphere that
can only be found at one of his live performances.
